There's a market in the main town for shoppers, sandy beaches aplenty, and lots to do including snorkelling, kayaking, fishing and relaxing. The food is very tasty: lots of fresh fish and salads, and some good local beer.

Valletta, Malta's tiny capital city, is chock-a-block full of wonders. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, its streets are walled with golden sandstone buildings, many from the 17th century, while its lookouts reveal its large harbour where working boats rub shoulders with cruise liners. Marble statues marvel on street corners; bar stools perch precariously on flights of stairs; film crews haul reflectors and cameras; and music can be heard everywhere. There are gardens, cool museums, churches, bars and restaurants aplenty; you can walk everywhere and photo everything; and there's even a rocky harbour beach that is good for swimming. The sun shines, the wine flows, flowers bloom, fountains play, lizards scutter and people smile. The good life.
